Opis pojazdu
In the late 1950s, BMW introduced the 507, an elegant two-seater convertible powered by a 3.2-litre V8 engine. Decades later, the Z8 was conceived as a modern tribute to this iconic roadster, Under the bonnet, the Z8 is powered by a 4.9-litre, 400 bhp V8 engine derived from the legendary E39 M5. Positioned behind the front axle for optimum 50/50 weight distribution, this engine delivers effortless torque and a characteristic burble that embodies the muscle car charm of the original 507. Built on an advanced aluminium space-frame with aluminium body panels, the Z8 boasts cutting-edge technology for its time, including xenon headlights, a sophisticated five-link rear suspension, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and ASC+T traction control. Safety features included front and side airbags, while the driving experience was enhanced by a six-speed manual gearbox and dual VANOS variable valve timing.
Our BMW Z8 was delivered in April 2001 by BMW of North America Corporate to its proud first owner. He opted for the iconic color combination of Titan Silver paint paired with the stunning Sport Red soft leather interior—a timeless choice that perfectly complements the car's design.
While the Z8 shares its 400 hp engine, directly built by BMW Motorsport, with the legendary M5, it’s not exactly a sports car. Instead, it’s an old-school roadster, a machine that feels as much like a muscle car as it does a grand tourer. Even today, driving the Z8 evokes the spirit of the classic 507. There’s immense torque on tap, yet little need to exploit all of its power. Beneath the Z8’s nostalgic skin lies a sophisticated, modern BMW—a car that doesn’t just look phenomenal but is also incredibly rewarding to drive. Not difficult, not aggressive, but a supremely comfortable and elegant cruiser. Equally breathtaking are the details on this car. From its beautifully slim lines, seamlessly integrated into the bodywork, to the distinctive 'gills' behind the front arches and the sharp twin-kidney grille, the Z8 is brimming with seductive design elements. Even the door handles are a visual delight! This collector's piece clearly reflects the care of an enthusiast. It boasts its original first paintwork, which remains in fantastic condition with no stone chips or scratches. Even the rims look as if they’ve just come off the factory line. The interior is equally impressive. The soft leather seats appear like new, with no signs of entry damage or discolouration. A striking aluminium strip spans the top of the dashboard, housing a central instrument panel subtly angled toward the driver. Every detail functions perfectly, from the buttons and the radio to the seat heating and even the Motorola phone integrated into the centre console.
Currently, the car has been in the possession of a Belgian collector since 2014. It is registered on Belgian plates and comes complete with the matching hardtop, a Certificate of Conformity (COC), and the original leather BMW pouch containing all the original booklets.
For those who wish to feel like James Bond in The World Is Not Enough, desire a car that is virtually unparalleled on the road, or simply wish to own a vehicle that has secured a prominent place not only in BMW's legacy but also in the broader automotive industry, the Z8 stands as the perfect choice. A true masterpiece in every respect—and let's be honest, every gentleman's dream. Now available at Rock ‘N Roll Classics.
