Story

The 250 series itself was Ferrari's most successful line of the 1950s and 1960s, known for its versatility and performance.
It encompassed racing cars, road cars, and hybrids between the two.
The 250 GT Coupe was designed specifically as a grand touring car, offering refinement and comfort alongside Ferrari’s renowned performance.

Ferrari collaborated with Pinin Farina (later spelled Pininfarina), a leading Italian design house, to craft the body of the 250 GT Coupe.
At the time, Pinin Farina was transitioning from small-scale, bespoke production to more standardized manufacturing.
The 250 GT Coupe marked a key moment in this shift.
Each car was still largely handmade, but Pinin Farina constructed the bodies in greater numbers than Ferrari had previously achieved.
The elegant design was characterized by clean, flowing lines, a long hood, and a short rear deck.
The aesthetic was restrained compared to Ferrari’s racing models but exuded sophistication, making it ideal for long-distance touring.
Under the hood, the 250 GT Coupe was powered by Ferrari’s legendary 3.0-liter Colombo V12 engine, named after its designer, Gioachino Colombo.
The engine produced approximately 240 horsepower and was paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox.
This powertrain allowed the car to achieve a top speed of over 140 mph (225 km/h), impressive for the time.
The chassis was built on a 2,600 mm wheelbase, which provided stability and comfort.
The car featured a tubular steel frame (chassis type 508) and independent front suspension, with a live axle and semi-elliptic leaf springs at the rear.
Disc brakes were not yet standard, so the 250 GT Coupe relied on drum brakes.
While earlier Ferrari road cars were often one-off creations or limited-production runs, the 250 GT Coupe was produced in greater numbers, with approximately 350 units built between 1958 and 1960.
